My Father and Grandmother
Back in 2014, I found an old portrait of my father as an infant, and his mother sitting together, with him in her lap. The photo was so beautiful that I decided to recreate the image in charcoal. While the photo was framed within an ordinary frame. I felt compelled to get a little bit more creative and change the image border itself. I used an ellipse frame to fill it with the subjects, then bordered it with painted pearls. I created another border of florals. I didn't know what to call this aesthetic, whether it was Victorian or vintage. It's up to the interpreter to decide.
